Selfie
"The Archive"
This image represents some of my interests. In a more meaningful sense, it represents the way that people change and stay the same throughout their life. Each object is from a different point of my life: the copy of Smash Bros. is from elementary school, the Lovecraft anthology is from middle school, and the gamepad is from high school. I superimposed these images over one another through the layer and transparency tools on Photoshop, allowing me to better convey the message. Overall, this photo is meant to show that people seem to change often, but are still the same person in the end.
Double Exposure
"Night Ride"
The editing in this image is far superior to that of the selfie I took at the beginning of the trimester, with sharper outlines, less awkward cropping, and a smoother use of a juxtaposition of imagery. The original image itself is better, as well; the lighting looks better, and the composition looks more deliberate, which it was. I'm also not looking awkwardly downwards, though that's probably the least of my start-of-tri selfie's problems. In a less technical sense, I also feel that the mood depicted is more interesting and consistent. Furthermore, without an artist's statement, the selfie doesn't really convey much of anything other than that I probably like the objects I chose, whereas the double exposure more unambiguously gets across what I was trying to get across.
